Protein Ice Cream (Gluten-free, dairy-free, low-carb)

So. I just discovered a new kitchen gadget! Appliance is more like it, as it’s definitely bigger (and pricier) than a gadget. The Ninja Creami is not cheap, about $180 on Amazon, but it’s been worth every penny so far!

If you like smoothies, ice cream, milkshakes, sorbet, or anything other type of frozen treat, ESPECIALLY if you’re on a diet that makes it difficult to eat store-bought frozen treats, you need this!

I’ve had my Creami for about two weeks now, and my daughter and I have made at least eight different kinds of ice cream to this point. Vanilla ice cream, rainbow sherbet milkshakes, lemon blueberry ice cream, mocha chocolate chip, German chocolate…she wants to try Skittles ice cream next!

The Creami is so easy to use that it’s kind of addicting. BUT the great thing is that you can make your treats as healthy (or not) as you want them to be. Today I came up with a light protein ice cream recipe that is delicious, and I wanted to share it with you! I made mine chocolate, but the flavor possibilities are endless here!

Follow this recipe for chocolate ice cream that’s low in fat and high in protein:

2 Tbs. unsweetened cocoa powder

2 Tbs. sugar or granulated sweetener (I love Monk Fruit In the Raw)

1 scoop unflavored protein powder (I use Ancient Nutrition Unflavored Collagen Peptides)

1 tsp. vanilla extract

2 c. fat-free dairy or nut milk (I use Silk Cashew milk and/or Thrive Lite coconut milk)

Blend all ingredients together in a Creami pint container until smooth. Firmly seal with the pint lid and freeze for 24 hours. Follow Creami instructions for processing into a smooth ice cream treat!
